Alison and Martin Skipper founded Skipper Design Company in 1987. The brother and sister partnership are both highly qualified artists and designers. Their work mainly reflects an East Anglian theme, because the family has a strong association and historic connection with Norfolk. 

The Company began by supplying the tourist industry with high quality, personalised needlework kits. During the past 20 years the business has grown steadily and now includes a number of prestigious customers. Growth has been achieved by providing excellent customer service at all times. The Company has also built up a thriving mail order business with a large number of regular customers, including overseas collectors.

Skipper Design Company sells a comprehensive range of tapestry and cross-stitch kits, ranging from simple designs for beginners to more complex ones for the experienced needle worker. Alison and Martin personally design the artwork from the actual scene or subject for each kit, in the traditional manner, without the aid of a computer. They then stitch each unique design themselves, before they hand draw the chart pattern. At every stage they consider the stitcher's ability in following complexity of the pattern. Alison and Martin have undertaken various private and commercial commissions and have extensive experience of creating unique and exclusive designs for clients such as: - historic houses, religious organisations, charitable groups and individuals. They have attended a variety of exhibitions and shows, and have given presentations to needlework enthusiasts. 

Alison is also a textile artist who designs and manufactures unique hand tufted wool rugs for the wall or floor. These will be exhibited on her new web site which will go live in the near future.
